classic memorablaztic..

Hindsight slaps you across the face when you least expect it; thank God it’s gentle one at that. It’s not that today is bad, or that it was better or worse than yesterday; I guess it’s human tendency to look back on things with emotion – be it joy or sorrow. It’s funny to think that one lives in his/her past, to some it may seem a loser’s life but to many others it’s an escape. I have a funny predicament here, not wanting to let go of what I have here but also wishing I had what was in the past. Plug on those headphones and you’d think I’d be tripping to some new-age music stuff that’s heating up the dance floors rite now, but all that’s sinusoidal and flowing through those ear-drums today are good ol’ retro stuff. The floydian adventures, the who’s pompousness that inspires you to jiggy along and hey, even those soulful Kishore-da’s songs. Even disco seems pleasing now (don’t kill for that!).. I say bring back those days , the 90′s (cuz for Indians, even the days before liberalization were part of the retro-age) when things were scarce and thouroughly and deliciously enjoyed, when everything meant something, when a vanilla or a chocolate ice-cream mattered so much more for those five minutes they took to melt away in your mouth. It’s fair to say that things dont come at such a premium anymore, the intensity has certainly died down and the sheer disappointment is in the fact that people just don’t have time for it anymore. That SUCKS. So go on, bring back that retro age when you’d love to see a Maruti 800 or a VW Beetle putter past you (or zoom if u had it fitted out back then :D ) when you waited leisurely for your beverage at the Irani cafe cause those indefatigable, genuine feelings hardly ever expressed themselves so freely again. As I ponder over what I wanted to write here and what I ended up writing, maybe you want to put that Bob Marley on the playlist again and sing along ‘Don’t worry, be happy!’, or then again, you could just say ‘Naaaaaaaaaah.. bummer’.

And I’d say ‘ Jaane-jaan, doondtha phir raha………… :)

Good nite, ppl..

  1. U’ve understood materialism in today’s world to the fullest. Reminds me of a poem I once received as a forward, one that expressed how much we all run thru life and realise the beauty of everything in retrospect.I guess that’s why we value the past so much…. :)
